Why You Should Never Say “Give Up Baby” For Adoption
Are you experiencing an unplanned pregnancy and considering adoption? Are you worried about what others might think about your choice to put your baby up for adoption? At Adoption Choices of Texas, we want to help you throughout your journey and help you understand the process. You might read the phrase “give up baby” from time to time when doing your research, and we want you to know it can be very misleading. You are not giving up your baby. Instead, you are setting them up with a plan for a good life.
The adoption process can be challenging enough. You have a bunch of emotions racing through your mind and body. You also have to care for more than just yourself now. We want to make it a little bit easier on you by providing you with a step-by-step on how to get started with the adoption process.
Understanding Your Decision to Place Your Baby Up for Adoption
The first thing to understand is you are not giving up anything. You’re making a selfless decision that is in the best interest of you and your baby. You’re giving your baby the opportunity to be placed in a stable environment with a loving family. We understand your decision was probably not an easy one. But, be confident in your decision and know that you are putting your baby’s interests above anything else. Out of all the other options you could have chosen, you chose an incredibly selfless one.
The second thing to understand is that while you chose a San Antonio adoption and chose to give your baby to another family, you are still a mother. Just because you are not going to be the one raising your child or be the one they call mom does not make you any less of a mother. Your first motherly duty was making the right decision by your child to put them up for adoption. You nurtured and cared for your child for nine months and gave life to another human being, which makes you a mother.
Remember to Care for Yourself During Your Adoption Process
Remember that you are no longer the only one you are caring for. Your baby is unable to provide for itself as it is growing inside of you. You want to ensure you and your baby receives the necessary nutrients found in specific foods. Fruits, vegetables, and lean meat are good and healthy options to fuel you throughout your pregnancy. You also might want to consider daily exercise, whether that is walking, swimming, or yoga. Staying active can help reduce your stress and the soreness of your back muscles from carrying around your baby.
Another important things to consider when caring for yourself are regular doctor visits. You should want to know what is going on at all times with your baby. You will want to ensure that you are staying healthy enough, and if anything does appear to be wrong, you will find out right away. Also, consider counseling within a group or in a one-on-one session just to check on your mental well-being. Your mental state is just as important as your physical one. Pregnancy can be a very draining time for some women, especially new mothers.
