What is an Adoption Plan in TX?

Placing your birth child up for adoption doesn’t have to be a stressful situation. At Adoption Choices of Texas, we have services that will help with the expenses once you’ve given birth. You don’t have to be alone in this process. We’re here to help you.

What is the adoption plan in TX, and how does it work?

An adoption plan goes over the steps needed when placing a child for adoption. Then, as the birth parent, you’ll have to decide what comes next. Before you think of the adoption process, you’ll need to find agencies where you live. In Texas, we have an agency called Adoption Choices of Texas that will help you along the way. With our agency, you, as the birth parent, will never have to stress. We’ll make this process simple for you. Need help with the financial aspects of the pregnancy? We can assist you.

What comes next is choosing the family your birth child ends up with. With our agency, we’ll help find the perfect candidates if you’d like for your birth child to be placed in a specific household. We’ll help with that. This isn’t a needed step, but if you’d like, it’s there. There’s also the option to meet the adoptive parents. But this isn’t a required step as well.

What are the different adoption plans available in Texas?

There are three options to pick from for an adoption plan in TX. First, there is an “open adoption.” Where in the beginning, you’ll look over the adoptive parents’ information. Then meet up with them to know more. Throughout this process, you’ll be able to share contact information. So, you can schedule a time to see your birth child. Then, you can decide if you’d like the adoptive parents to be there at your birth. Depending on the relationship you have with the adoptive parents. You’ll be able to be a steady part of your birth child’s life.

With the semi-open adoption plan. The relationship between you and the potential adoptive parents isn’t as strong. With this plan, the potential adoptive parents can remain anonymous. Of course, if they’d like to keep in contact during the adoption process, they could. But with this plan, it’s all up to them.

Finally, there is no contact between the potential adoptive parents with a closed adoption plan. Unlike with the semi-open and open adoption plan, there is no sharing of contact information. Everything is done through the agency of choice. As of recently, this plan has declined. Since birth, mothers have wanted to be a part of their birth child’s life.

What is the hospital process in Texas if you’re putting your child up for adoption?

You’ll tell the nurse that you’ve been working with an adoption agency at the hospital. They’ll say you’ll have to wait for 48-hours before the adoption process is complete. During that time, the birth child could spend the time with you or with the adoptive parents. But, of course, you’ll also choose to spend the time with both the birth child and the adoptive parents.

In Texas, can I see my birth child once the adoption is complete?

After the adoption process is complete, you’ll be able to see the birth child through an “open adoption.” This is a relationship between the birth parents and the adoptive parents. But for this to happen, the adoptive parents have to be the ones to agree. At Adoption Choices of Texas, we offer this choice to birth parents so they can have a relationship with their birth child if they’d like. In Texas, you’re not allowed to have full custody of your birth child once you complete the adoption process.
