Teen Pregnancy and Choosing Adoption in TX

Teen pregnancy is a term many people recoil at when they think about it. For many young girls, it’s a nightmare, but for some, it’s a reality they have to live through. Yet, as disastrous as pop culture and media paint teen pregnancy to be, it is not the end of the world. However, if you are a teenager experiencing an unplanned pregnancy, you may feel you have become the very stereotype that people look down upon. As a pregnant teen, you may be feeling a whole mix of emotions, and you may feel hopeless. Your situation is not hopeless, however. If you are facing a pregnancy, you have three ways to deal with your pregnancy:

Despite your age, you have every right to decide your future. As such, you should not be coerced or forced into making a specific choice.

If you need help with adoption now, you can call us at 945-444-0333, text us at 945-444-0333, or email us here.

Teen Pregnancy Options

As listed above, you have three ways to deal with your pregnancy as a teenager. You must explore all three options before you make a final decision because the choice you make will determine your future. It will also be a choice you will have to live with, so your choice should be made because of your own opinions, wants, and needs.

If you are looking to raise your baby as a teenage mom, you should understand that being a good parent does not come from how old you are. Instead, being a good parent comes from your actions, such as creating a healthy relationship and being responsive to your child. Another thing you should understand as a teenage mom is that you may be judged because of your age and situation. However, there are plenty of resources available for you to help you overcome these obstacles.

Another option to consider in handling your teen pregnancy is terminating your pregnancy. If you wish to terminate your pregnancy, Texas law mandates that if you are a minor, you must have the consent of your parents (with a few exceptions). One thing to note is that termination of pregnancy laws are constantly changing, so you should always consult with your legal advisor before committing to a decision.

The final option you can consider is adoption, which means voluntarily terminating your parental rights over your baby. This means your rights as a parent will be transferred to the parents of your choice. One benefit of choosing adoption is that you are in control of the entire process. A birth parent will be closely working with you to help answer any questions you may have during the process, but ultimately, every decision will be up to you.

Each option has its benefits and drawbacks, but the only way you can know what choice is the best for you is if you take time to understand your own wants and needs and to know what you are capable of.

Choosing Adoption for My Baby in Texas

If you have committed to the decision of adoption, you will have many things to consider, such as what the adoption process actually looks like. While the process of adoption may seem overwhelming, you can be reassured to know that you will not have to go through the journey alone.

Once you get in contact with Adoption Choices of Texas, you will work closely with a birth parent counselor, who will get to understand you as a person and your situation. No matter your age, our birth parent counselors will help guide you so that you don’t ever feel unsure or alone.

While working with your birth parent counselor, they will help you create an adoption plan, which is where you will write out how you want your adoption to look. You will be able to decide what kind of family you want for your child and if you want any form of communication with your child and their adoptive parents after the adoption process is complete.

Once you feel as though you have completed your adoption plan, you can move on to looking at all the family profiles available. Each family has passed a home study, so you can be reassured in knowing that the family you choose for your child has passed a background check and are ready to take a child into their home.

The final step in the adoption process is to wait until delivery. During this time, you will be eligible to receive financial aid for pregnancy-related costs, such as groceries and medical costs. You will also be able to receive free counseling because we understand how stressful pregnancy and the adoption process can be.
