5 Self-Care Tips for TX Birth Mothers

1. Walk Through Nature

Step into the fresh morning air, under the afternoon sun, or painted dusk sky. Get your body in motion! Exercise does not have to be that back-breaking workout you did before pregnancy. A stroll in the neighborhood or a hike in the park is a great way to stay active. Allow yourself to wonder in your thoughts and focus on your breathing. Giving your baby up for adoption may be the hardest thing you do. When you take that walk, release all those negative emotions- leave them behind with each step. Walk towards that bright future as you plan to give up your baby to a loving, adoptive family.

2. Relax in the Tub

Nothing relaxes the body more than warm water, good music, and a sweet-scented bath bomb. Put your feet up against the tub. Taking a bath may feel a bit different than it used to. This time, your belly may poke through the surface like a lonely mountain. Pregnancy has a monumental effect on the body, and providing it with some rest can go a long way. With some tunes, even your baby can have a good time and might reward you with a little dance! A nice bath or even soak will leave you feeling and smelling good.

3. Stay in Bed

You are growing into a literal human. Let that fact sink in. The amount of energy your body is using is unbelievable! So don’t feel bad if you don’t have the steam to jump out of bed on a Sunday morning. Permit yourself to sleep in for a few more hours or put on your favorite show. Become a real-life mummy by wrapping yourself up in your comforter. Although it is important not to waste away, rewarding yourself after a hard week’s work is not a bad thing. Being able to wake up with a clear mind and rested body is vital to maintaining mental and physical health.

4. Have Fun with Friends and Family

Just because you are taking a different route through life doesn’t mean everything has to change! There is no reason to end those family game nights or movie marathons with friends. In fact, it’s important to continue creating those memories and positivity. Those fun times can really help transform your attitude and mentality, making your pregnancy and adoption process easier. Spending time with your loved ones is a great form of support through your adoption journey. You never know. Maybe your baby will be smiling along with you!

5. Eat Healthy

You may notice your stomach may be rumbling more often or that you have no appetite at all from nausea. Regardless of whatever position you find yourself in, keep those healthy snacks coming. In the past, you could have gotten away with just a coffee. Now you are responsible for nourishing not only yourself but a baby as well. While listening to your body, try to guide it to those crunchy carrots or sweet strawberries. These foods will not only leave you feeling better but will aid your child’s development. But of course, it’s ok to give into that craving of chocolate cake or vanilla ice cream occasionally.
