Pregnant, Considering Adoption, Help!

Every day, Adoption Choices of Texas talks with pregnant women who are stressed and facing the many difficult decisions that come with an unplanned pregnancy. They are sometimes overwhelmed and unsure of their next steps. They often ask, What are my options?

While we are proud to support a birth mother for ANY decision she makes, we believe in the choice of adoption, it is our mission to present a full picture to the pregnant women we serve in Texas. We want adoption to be a choice that a woman feels confident and comfortable with. If an expectant mother ultimately chooses adoption for her child, we want it to be the result of careful consideration, a decision she made without coercion.

If you need help with adoption now, you can call us at 945-444-0333, text us at 945-444-0333, or email us here.

Choosing adoption in the first trimester

The first 12 weeks or three months of pregnancy is considered the first trimester. This is when most women discover they are pregnant. Depending on the woman’s situation, it is also might be when she considers her unplanned pregnancy options. These include parenting, adoption, and terminating the pregnancy (abortion).

Our licensed adoption agency in Texas, has trained, experienced, COMPASSIONATE professionals who can give her a detailed and unbiased explanation of each during the first trimester. With an adoption plan, the woman will be matched with an adoption specialist who will begin working on her behalf immediately. This may include providing free counseling, helping her obtain medical care, prenatal care, and finding an OBGYN. These services are free and available for expectant parents. Services do not commit the expectant mother to adoption.

Choosing adoption in the second trimester

The second trimester includes weeks 13-28 | months 4-6. A woman has until 20 weeks of gestation to have an abortion in Texas. The procedure must take place in a surgery center or hospital between weeks 17-20, not an abortion clinic. During the second trimester, the risks and cost of abortion can become a large factor in the unplanned pregnancy options by month. Both the costs and the health risks (for the woman) become major factors.

If an expectant woman chooses adoption for her pregnancy, our Texas adoption agency will help her create an adoption plan. With an adoption plan, she can begin receiving help with reasonable living expenses, such as rent, bills, and groceries. Medical, legal, and emotional support are all covered by the adoption agency.

Choosing adoption in the third trimester

During the 7-9 months of pregnancy, abortion in Texas is illegal, unless the mother’s life is at risk or the child has a severe medical problem. Obtaining an abortion in the final months of pregnancy becomes more complex in the third trimester, and very risky for the woman. Parenting the child or choosing adoption are common choices for expectant parents in this stage of pregnancy.

Many women who call our Texas adoption center are in their third trimester. We work quickly to get to know you as an expectant mothers, understand your needs, and form relationships with you. We discuss your option to parent your child, or we begin providing adoption guidance and support. Adoption is a great option for women in the third trimester of their pregnancy who feel that they cannot parent or do not want to parent.

Adoption is an option at any stage of pregnancy and even after the baby is born. Depending on how far along you are, birth mother services and financial assistance varies. It’s best to contact us as soon as you are ready to consider adoption. As an expectant woman or birth parent, to learn more about adoption, contact Adoption Choices of Texas.
