HOUSTON, TEXAS – In response to the many families and young women suffering through the aftermath of hurricane Harvey, Adoption Choices of Texas has coordinated a relief effort to provide help and comfort to those hurt by the widespread flooding.
“Many of the people most harmed by the heavy rains and flooding were pregnant women and women caring for small children,” reports Houston resident, and Adoption Choices of Texas Social Services Supervisor, Gina Thomas. “It is difficult to keep a steady supply of personal and child-care items when you can’t go back home because of flooding or you don’t have power.”
Adoption Choices of Texas is a licensed adoption agency providing free adoption education and counseling across the state, and has a long history of service in Houston. The agency will be supplying children’s diapers and pull-ups, blankets, mosquito repellant, and toiletries among other items to give comfort to those displaced by the storm. To request assistance, a toll-free number has been set up so that those in need can get help. Assistance from Adoption Choices of Texas is available 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, at (855) 304-4673 or online at adoptionchoicesoftexas.org.
